There are many things we can do to improve the appearance and condition of our hair. Our hair isn’t just affected by the products or treatments we apply; it’s also affected by what’s going on inside our bodies, just like our skin. While it is normal to lose 100 to 150 strands of hair a day, it is very necessary to strengthen hair roots with daily practices so that this number doesn’t double and our hair health remains strong.
Before you know it, your tresses can show signs of damage, from split ends to uncontrollable frizz. And the older we get, the more it naturally thins out and looks dull or damaged.
So, what can we do to maintain lustrous and healthy hair? Here are a few tips!
Hydrated hair = healthy hair
Hydration! Hydration! HYDRATION - This is the most simple of healthy hair tips. Aside from drinking bulk bottles of h20, there is a stack of other ways to give your hair a much-needed hydration boost. Wash your hair only twice or three times a week and switch to a deep conditioning and moisturizing shampoo. Look for ingredients such as avocado oil, shea butter, or olive and almond oil that lock moisture into your hair. Use a DIY moisturizing hair mask once per week. You should also minimize your use of heat styling tools or hot water on your hair.
Clean eating is key
When it comes to hair, you are what you eat. A nutrient-dense diet will greatly improve the health of hair follicles, giving you shinier strands. As your hair is mostly made up of protein, it is imperative for your hair health that you make sure you are getting enough of this in your diet. Foods such as berries, spinach, avocados, or any other options that are high in vitamin C and E will help with collagen production which is great for producing stronger strands. Both iron and vitamin D also help in building and strengthening hair.
Trim for hair that’s prim
Some may find this counteractive to growth, but trimming your hair gets rid of broken and split ends that could lead to more damaged hair. Nipping damage in the bud with a trim about once every season (or as needed) will keep the hair at its healthiest.
Keep your stress in check
Stress can affect the body immensely. When your mind and body are stressed, energy is diverted from making lush, thick hair. Find ways to control stress – exercise, meditate, do yoga, take time off, spend time in nature, consult a therapist, etc. – but keep it at bay!
Use Rosemary Essential Oil for Hair Growth & scalp Health
RAS Luxury Oil has pure Rosemary essential oil which can be mixed 2-3 drops with argan oil or coconut oil and be applied to scalp. Rosemary oil has been proven to have hair follicle stimulating compound that make it very effective for hair loss and alopecia as well. Rosemary essential oil for hair can also be used by mixing into shampoos and hair masks.
Sleep on silk/Satin for silky hair
This healthy hair tip is so simple, you can do it while you snooze. If you purchase anything for your hair and skin, make it a silk pillowcase. Silk not only reduces your skin and hair's exposure to nasty chemicals but also boosts its ability to retain moisture. Silk also minimizes split ends as well as breakage and keeps the bedhead under control.
Don’t over-do it
Over-washing can cause your hair to become dry and dull. If you have an oily scalp you may need to wash your hair every day, depending on its appearance. If you have dry hair, try to limit the frequency with which you wash it, use your hair’s appearance as a guideline rather than having a set hair-washing schedule. Then, condition your hair. Conditioner helps to replace moisture lost from your hair while shampooing and works to smooth down your hair cuticle. Also remember, never comb wet hair, just let it air dry because it makes hair follicles weaker. If you have to comb wet hair, use a very wide-toothed comb.
