Skin hydration 101: How our gel serums can help you achieve soft, plump skin

Dear RAS family,
If there’s one thing you should keep in mind when skincare is in question, it’s the importance of hydration. How your skin behaves and looks depends largely on how hydrated it is and how you replenish these hydration levels every single day.

Your body is composed of approximately 60% water and to be able to function properly, it needs hydration. You may not be aware of it but your body loses water everyday while performing activities to keep us alive. This is why doctors, nutritionists and dermatologists are always emphasising the importance of consuming 2-3 litres of water daily. Your body requires water and other hydrating fluids to perform tasks like maintaining body temperature, supplying nutrition to the cells, eliminating toxins and keeping your skin looking and feeling fresh.

Proper hydration is extremely essential to keep the body organs healthy including the largest organ of your body which is your skin. Dehydrated skin lacks lustre, looks dull and even ages much faster as compared to hydrated skin. Your skin depends on you to provide it with proper nourishment and hydration for it to remain healthy and plump. There are two ways you can hydrate your skin, first is internally and second, externally.

How to hydrate your skin from the inside out
Both internal and external hydration are equally important to maintain your skin’s health and get that healthy glow. Take a close look at your skin to check if it’s unusually dry, flaky, itchy, dull, lacks elasticity or is wrinkly. If you see any of these signs, it’s time for you to up your hydration game.

For internal hydration, start with including more fluids in your diet such as fruit juices, herbal teas, shakes and smoothies; these are, of course, supposed to be consumed in addition to water. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water everyday to keep your body functioning well and your skin radiant. Including the daily recommended requirement of fruits and vegetables helps further nourish your body. Consuming excess alcohol or smoking can both dehydrate your skin further; it’s best to stay away from these vices.

For external hydration, you can rely on potent moisturisers and serums. Our recently launched Face Gel Serums can help give your skin its daily hydration boost.
