6 DIY Skincare Masks to try at Home!

Given the busy and hectic life where we step out of our home every single day (not these days, of-course!), having dull skin and tired skin is quite common. For this very reason, it is important to pamper your skin in weekly sessions of face masks. Face packs are an amazing way to deliver some essential nutrients to your skin.

 

Here is a list of awesome DIY skincare recipes according to various skin types to have you feeling great for days!

*REFRESHING LEMON AND SUGAR CLEANSER/SCRUB – ALL SKIN TYPES

Make this simple homemade 2 ingredient lemon sugar facial scrub about once a week. It is super easy and it leaves the skin very soft, smooth, & exfoliated.

  • Take1 ½ tablespoons of honey into a small bowl,add more if you’d like to use the scrub on your neck as well. 
  • Add 1 ½ tablespoons of organic cane fine sugar or normal one that you have  to the honey. Make sure it is not too thick.
  • Add 3-5 droplets of fresh lemon juice for freshness and glow.
  • Add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammation properties.

The mixture should be thick enough so it doesn’t slide off your face quickly. Apply the scrub on your face, lips and neck and gently massage in circles for 45 seconds.Leave it on your face for at least 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry followed by a Face Toner &  Elixir Serum

*HYDRATING PAPAYA FACEMASK – DRY AND PATCHY SKIN

Make this super simple two ingredients face mask to get rid of your dry and patchy skin.

  • 1/2 Cup Ripe Papaya
  • 1 tbsp honey

Mash the papaya thoroughly to form a smooth paste and add the honey to it, mix well and apply on clean face, let it stay for 30 minutes and wash off properly with water.

Vitamin A present in papaya rejuvenates and nourishes dry and rough skin whereas potassium helps in hydrating skin cells and restoring moisture. Regular application of papaya also prevents skin aging, wrinkles and age spots. Honey acts as a natural moisturizer.

 

*ANTI-ACNE CLAY MASK – FOR ACNE PRONE AND OILY SKIN

This DIY mask helps to calm inflammation, fight bacteria, and unclog pores. Combine all the below ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp  Bentonite clay or any clay of your choice.
  • 2 tsp Green moong gram flour
  • 2 tsp yogurt
  • 2 tsp raw honey
  • 2 pinch Turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp Neem leaf powder (optional)
  • 2 drops  Tea tree essential oil

 

Leave for this on your face for 10-15 mins. Thoroughly rinse off with warm water, pat dry.

Bentonite clay pulls toxins, chemicals, and even heavy metals. This  clay also helps provide oxygen to cells and has an alkalizing effect. Green moong gram rejuvenates your skin by nourishing and exfoliation.

Yogurt helps exfoliate skin and tighten pores with naturally-occurring lactic acid.Honey has antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Teatree &turmeric known for their antiseptic  anti-inflammatory properties decrease microbial growth, balance  sebum production and  all which can cause acne.

 

 

*ANTI-AGING FACE MASK – FOR MATURE SKIN

If you wish to get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles, then this face-pack will surely come quite handy to you. You will require :

  • 1 tablespoon of rice flour and
  • 2 tsp of milk cream
  • 1tsp of dried rose petal powder
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 2 drops of Frankincense essential oil

Mix them in a bowl and apply it on your face and let it stay until it dries completely. Rinse it off with cold water and watch out for results.

Frankincense Oil – is a powerful antioxidant that can prevent premature ageing and improve the appearance of pores, wrinkles and even scars

 

*ANTI-BLEMISH MASK – FOR PIGMENTED SKIN

Mix below together and prepare a paste.

  • 4 tbsp tomato juice
  • 1 tbsp rice flour.

Apply this on the face and neck, massage gently and keep it on the skin for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with plain water. Repeat this rice flour face mask twice or thrice in a week.

Tomato contains lycopene, which is a natural antioxidant substance. It helps to protect our skin from UV damage. The antioxidant property of tomato helps in getting clear skin. Tomatoes are great exfoliator for our skin, which gently removes the top layer of the skin and unveil the healthy new skin underneath.

 

*SKIN REJUVENATING/ BRIGHTENING  MASK– FOR DULL AND PALE SKIN

Want to get rid of that dull and pale skin? Use:

  • 1 tbsp fine potato paste
  • 1 tbsp of rice flour
  • ½ tbsp honey

Mix all the ingredients. Apply all over the face and neck, massaging gently with the fingertips. Allow it to dry naturally and then, use fresh water to wash off everything.

Potato has natural skin bleaching properties due to the presence of catechols enzyme in it. They are high in vitamin C content, which is known for its skin brightening properties.

 

Honey is loaded with vitamins and minerals. The natural enzymes in honey make it easy to get absorbed by the skin.

 

Please note, do a patch test before trying these recipes, as there could be allergies to even natural substances.
for that  just put some of the mix on your inner arm and leave for 15 minutes
