Our skin in the largest organ in our body absorbs 60% of what is applied to it. It makes it vital to consider the ingredients that go into these products and hence into our bloodstream. Increased exposure to pollutants, low humidity and dry air in winter makes our skin cells even more vulnerable leading to cracking, bleeding and a dull complexion. Some petroleum-based ingredients present in several moisturizers accelerate dehydration of the skin. Chemicals like parabens, phthalates, silicons slowly harm skin in ways that we can’t observe, leading to long-term issues like cancer, respiratory issues, hormonal imbalance, headaches, and skin irritations. Keeping an eye out for natural products without these sourced from a certified organic origin is essential. Organic products work along with our skin’s systems and do not disrupt its natural functioning.

Oils like argan, jojoba are full of potent natural vitamins, enriching the skin deeply. Using a facial oil twice a day suitable to your skin type will help lock in moisture, regenerate and repair damaged skin cells. Retain moisture in the skin by applying the product on damp skin or use a toner before application of facial oil. Slather deeply nourishing oils on dry areas like elbows, knees, heels before going to bed for supple looking skin as the natural blood flow of skin is higher in the night. Mild exfoliation to maintain radiance of skin is recommended but using extremely harsh chemicals can strip the skin of its natural oils. Use safe ingredients that come from trusted organic sources to maintain healthy skin and body.
